Underwriting for marine & ocean cargo, managing renewal book of $4-5M; Developing & negotiating price, coverage, terms for new business & niche. Identify parameters for underwriting, coverage, pricing. Implement limiting rate strategies that produce profitability, growth, & producer retentions. Risk analysis & calculations. Develop insurance products. Maintaining relationships with clients. Implementing business strategies for Bevin through sales, prospecting, & pipeline development. Developing models & visualization tools to identify risks & pricing strategy outcomes. Managing financial performance of inland marine insurance. Setting goals, making regular broker & insured visits, & negotiating with partners.
Experience Requirements:
Experience in P&C industry. Experience with Excel for rating & performance indicators. Experience with math & logic to derive & apply rating formulas. Experience mentoring colleagues on math & Excel rating. Experience with reinsurance structures & pricing. Experience with problem solving, project management, organizational & resource management. Experience with fundamentals of coverage, terms. Extended experience with risk assessment including risk exposures, hazards & controls, ability to select risk, & ability to analyze claims. Experience with financial statements & risk analysis, insurance finance, & impact of underwriting on assets. Experience with loss trends & rate-making, quantifying risk. Experience selling & negotiating to achieve profitability, making presentations, & strategic communications. Experience with systems & software programs to conduct business.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or foreign equivalent in Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Finance or related field & 3 years experience as Underwriter, Analyst or insurance related occupation. Hybrid work from home may be available. Travel required: 10-20% to Pacific Northwest.
