Requires at least a Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field plus 24 months employment experience as software engineer/software developer, including 12 months experience with: C, C++, Java, SQL, Android SDK, Maven, JUnit, Selenium, Eclipse, Visual Studio, JIRA, Git, change management, and agile software development.
The Software Design Engineer in the University's Utah Data Coordination Center (DCC) will design, develop, and implement software programming applications; conduct software testing, including analysis, review, and certification, to ensure functionality and quality; analyze and modernize legacy systems to improve performance, scalability, and maintainability; refactor code and perform system analysis, leveraging techniques like reverse engineering to optimize existing software; collaborate with cross-functional teams to align software engineering efforts with organizational objectives; utilize tools and frameworks like Jenkins, Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD; design and implement cryptographic protocols, secure key management systems, encryption protocols (e.g., AES, RSA), and hashing algorithms (e.g., SHA-256).
