Harman Becker Automotive Systems, Inc. seeks a Technical Program Manager in Novi, MI.
Duties: Responsible for organizing and executing product development tasks. Work in a cross-functional role planning, communicating effectively, working on team building, and executing a development plan to Harman and customer requirements. Take direct responsibility for program management and customer interface engineering. Be indirectly responsible for all software engineering-related functions (including, but not limited to, hardware, software, systems, acoustics, and validation) and cross-functional interfaces (including procurement and manufacturing.) Manage 4-8 audio software programs, requiring both applications and international development engineering. Define the tasks to be performed by the cross-functional team while developing systems. Use a task list to create a work breakdown structure. Use the aforementioned work breakdown structure to then establish program schedule(s). Manage software schedules and dependencies, while identifying risks, and communicating status to Harman leadership and stakeholders for Automotive system software delivery. Follow the corporate product development (or application) process as applicable. Ensure the compliance of team members. Ensure prompt decision-making is executed by promoting consensus decisions, intervening when consensus decision-making fails, and making unilateral decisions in the case of a deadlock. Approve requirements and technical solutions for meeting requirements for all development products. Work with Sales, Supplier Engineering, and Design Engineering to set and meet the system cost target. Set team goals for the timeliness, customer issues, and quality. Lead team to meet goals. Interact with all internal functions: including, but not limited to, design engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, marketing, and sales. Negotiate resource allocations and solutions from functional managers and other program managers. Identify and drive program issues at the team level. Oversee software teams to develop the features that will be utilized to deliver products and features. Understand key technical and architectural foundations and provide input on approaches and alternatives. Supervise and coordinate the Audit Review Process for Customer Deliverables via DRBFM, Jira Merge Requests, Lean Six Sigma-A3 Document, and SW approval checklist (Release Readiness Review.) Use Jira to manage projects, identify and escalate technical and/or business roadblocks, and ensure work is progressing as expected. Coordinate management design reviews with leadership to review status and deep-dive technical issues. Utilize an understanding of system interdependencies and limitations to perform duties as applicable. Drive weekly software releases, bug burndown, triaging, and prioritizing amid shorter-term priorities. Work with the Lead Program Manager, technical leads, program manager teammates, and product managers to create, implement, and drive processes that improve execution and communication. Provide technical coordination in order to aid in assisting solutions for customer, warranty, and/or field issues.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electronic Engineering, or related field plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Requires 5 years of experience with the following: Program management, project leadership, or account management; Involvement in multiple Car Audio development lifecycles, including knowledge of hardware and software delivery methods and automotive development processes; MS Office, MS Project, MS Teams and SAP; and Articulating vision and influencing decision making or outcomes with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and the customer(s). Telecommuting is permitted.
