Progress Software Corporation seeks a Technical Support Engineer, Senior in Burlington, MA.

Duties: Work directly with highly technical customers across a wide range of industries to resolve issues with their critical applications. Resolve a variety of issues that span the entire solution stack, including operational infrastructure and software development. Utilize a strong base knowledge of Java, C/C++, XQuery, JavaScript, or similar to conduct incident based projects. Debug low latency/high throughput multi-threaded server infrastructure components to handle large amounts of requests in short spans of time. Troubleshoot high memory performance and high CPU performance, low latency applications, which requires deep understandings of operating systems and computer architectures. Improve the robustness, scalability, and security of the database. Utilize a strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and operating systems such as Linux and Windows Server. Troubleshoot design issues with NoSQL big data platforms (i.e. MarkLogic), along with knowledge of specific data formats such as XML, JSON, Protocol Buffers, and others. Test setup of database cluster to develop specifications and performance requirements or, in certain cases, resolve customer problems. Draft improvement for performance and proof-of-concepts for any new concept or alteration designs for future enhancement. Collaborate with various MarkLogic Engineering teams to expand our product offerings to new platforms such as cloud, container, OS and more through an expertise in Hadoop, cloud computer, RDBMS technologies and NoSQL solutions. Work with MarkLogic Engineering functions to support and maintain released products including tasks such as performance tuning, debugging through specialized techniques, and proposing upgrades as necessary. Work with multi-threaded programming and thread safety to ensure the clients' needs for security, scalability, and intuitive/efficient design are matched. Achieve transactional database's Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation and Durability properties in multi-core and multi-threaded environment. Use advanced knowledge of operating systems and computer architectures to achieve MarkLogic server's high memory performance, high CPU performance, and low latency. Achieve high security, scalability, serializability and availability of the database systems especially when MarkLogic database is deployed in different scales of computer clusters. Apply knowledge and expertise in TCP/IP networking protocols. Utilize enterprise database engines such as Oracle and DB2 as well as engine technologies such as Lucene and Google Search. Perform other duties as assigned.

Wage Range: $154,606 - $162,336 per year. 100% telecommuting permitted.
