Requires Bachelor's degree in Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or in the chemical or biological sciences; and ASCP or AAB certification as MLS or MT.
In the Special Chemistry laboratory, the Medical Laboratory Scientist III (NYQ) will perform testing methods for Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay, Spectrophotometry, and automated platform testing using such instruments as the Tecan liquid handler and the Roche Cobas c501. Will operate and maintain instrument platforms such as Roche Cobas, Tecan automated pipetting systems, spectrophotometers, thermal cyclers, and other instruments as required. May be assigned duties requiring extensive subject matter knowledge.
Will participate in preparing specimens for processing; establish, perform, and document quality assurance, quality control, confirm and verify results through in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments. Will also participate in student education and employee training. Correlates, interprets and enters data based on knowledge of factors affecting test results.
