Lead & support compression molding ops in mfg facility driving process excellence, optimizing tooling & fixtures & ensuring high standards of quality, efficiency & continuous improvement. Providing support for compression molding ops, incl tooling, fixtures, process development & work instructions for SMC, RTM, RIM & injection molding. Operate & troubleshoot high-tonnage compression presses (250-4,500 tons). Lead mold design activities for dies up to 80,000 tons & implement SMED projects. Drive process optimization, scrap reduction & quality improvement initiatives. Troubleshoot complex molding defects. Develop & maintain Control Plans, DFMEAs, SOPs & flow diagrams. Design & modify tooling, fixturing & gauges using CAD software. Support robotic routing/drilling & vacuum system integration. Support in-Mold Coating processes & post-primer mixing. Optimize app settings for various thermoset materials to meet specific customer requirements for fit & ext components. Ensure part traceability & process control. Manage steam heating systems. Design steam manifolds to support rapid tool changes. Supervise approx. 9 Mold Techs & Set-up Techs.
Manufacturing requirements include: Bachelor's in Eng & 3 yrs exp, incl 3 yrs eng exp in an auto or similar high-volume mfg environ; 3 yrs of hands-on exp with compression molding (SMC), RIM or injection molding; 3 yrs exp with reinforced fiberglass & both open & closed mold practices; 3 yrs exp with FMEA, Control Plans, Root Cause Analysis & APQP/PPAP doc; 3 yrs troubleshooting complex molding defects; 3 yrs exp in root cause analysis tools (5 Whys, 8D, A3, RedX); 3 yrs exp with CAD &/or SolidWorks; 3 yrs exp with QDSR ability to interpret eng drawings & customer specs; 3 yrs exp with quality systems such as IATF 16949 or ISO9001; & 3 yrs exp with MS Project or other project mgmt tools.
