JOB DUTIES:
• Internal Medicine physician will provide a spectrum of outpatient medical care at Berkshire Medical Center. The team also provides internal medicine consults to other services within the health system, and patient-related rehabilitation. Internal medicine providers are part of a multidisciplinary team that ensure high-quality patient outcomes.
• Internal Medicine physicians will focus on the acute and chronic medical care of adults to diagnose and treat complex adult medical problems of both acute and chronic care.
• Internal Medicine providers will involve managing patient care with a focus on diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.
• Provides direct patient care of a minimum of 40 hours per business week (at least 36 hours of which shall be in the provision of direct patient care) plus approximately 4 hours of which shall consist of ordering and other administrative work associated with such care (i.e., documentation and scheduling and arrangement for such care) plus services provided pursuant to the On-Call Schedule.
• Utilize various diagnostic tools to assess and imaging; to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients
• Take patient history and perform physical examination of patients
• Develop medical care plans for patients, demonstrating the necessary medical knowledge and clinical decision-making ability
• Communicate with patients and their families in a professional manner or otherwise in a manner that exhibits good professional judgment and is appropriate for the profession.
• Read charts, monitors, and other sources of clinical information.
• Complete appropriate medical records, documents, and plans according to BMC guidelines in a complete and timely manner.
• Perform all job functions while dressed in protective clothing required for clinical work, which includes but is not limited to: mask, gown, and gloves.
• Move through the medical center to address routine and emergent patient care issues and to attend required educational programs.
• Work shifts of varying lengths and schedules, including daytime, evening and overnight night shifts, and will perform clinical duties as scheduled.
• Provide care at all clinical sites, including Berkshire Medical Center, on-campus and other sites or related affiliated practices of BMC, such as the Cancer Center, etc.
• Utilize a computer for medical record review, documentation, and administrative support, research, and education in a current and timely fashion.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must hold Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or foreign equivalent
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must provide proof of COVID vaccination or medical exemption; Massachusetts Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine
