Job Description: Develop C/C++ on embedded systems. Debug and troubleshoot in a hardware and software environment. Interpret and communicate customer requirements to design intuitive user interfaces and refine applications and algorithms to meet specific needs. Ensure high-quality product by developing test automation and test plans. Implement and maintain a 3rd party anti-tampering solution within vision tools source code to protect intellectual property and licensing mechanisms at both build time and runtime. Integrate and optimize vision tools for custom embedded hardware systems developed for various product teams. Create our own Linux distribution and work with the Linux kernel. Assist in a variety of software development tasks, including building lightweight custom Graphical User Interfaces (GUI), testing systems in specialized environments, and developing code to control lighting systems. Develop advanced computer vision algorithms for detecting and decoding challenging ID barcodes under conditions such as noise, distortion, and other visual interference. Leverage AI technologies to address a broad range of vision challenges (including ID, 2D, and 3D vision) throughout the full machine learning lifecycle. This includes: managing datasets and building data pipelines; designing, training, and optimizing machine learning and deep learning models; evaluating models on test and validation sets to ensure fairness, robustness, and generalization; deploying models on embedded platforms; monitoring model performance in production; and maintaining and updating pipelines to support automated workflows. Telecommuting permitted within MSA up to 2x per week.
Job Requirements: Master's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or in related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
Special Requirements: Position requires experience in each of the following skills:
• 2 years of experience designing and programming algorithms using C/C++ and Python for embedded systems;
• 2 years of experience in software development best practices, including: development processes, source code control, and formal bug-tracking;
• 2 years of experience translating technical issues for lay audiences;
• 2 years of experience developing computer vision, signal, or image processing algorithms to solve complex machine vision problems;
• 2 years of experience developing, debugging, and deploying applications in a Linux environment, including practical experience with Linux kernel modules, build systems (Yocto and CMake), and shell scripting; and
• 1 year of experience deploying AI technologies to address machine vision challenges.
