Exelixis, Inc. seeks Senior Staff Engineer - Cloud Platform in Alameda, CA.
• Support the design and creation of products and services to meet technology needs.
• Help define and design the company's platform service, which includes database and cloud standards (configuration, provisioning, and ongoing operations).
• Work with system owners and architect the right solutions preferring cloud-first deployments over on-premise setup.
• Plan out end-to-end migration strategies covering server, database, certificate, and security in mind to the cloud.
• Clearly articulate technical architecture (current and future state diagrams, solution best practices, reference architectures, design patterns) as determined by business requirements and other factors.
• Lead key technical discussions and considerations around transformative technology from both a technical and non-technical perspective.
• Collaborate with security teams to incorporate strong security controls, apply security best practices in the code development life cycle.
• Drive product centricity by focusing on capabilities and value vs. technologies and tasks.
• Modernize traditional server hosting by adopting cloud services, designing, and evaluating technical architectures for new services and features with stakeholders and leveraging innovative and latest technology developments through new implementation and enhancements to existing ones.
• Act as the technical product owner for platform services team, including on-prem and cloud infrastructure and automation.
• Provide technical direction to other individuals.
• Mentor junior engineer staff in technical skills development.
• Manage vendors and contractors to deliver new capabilities and implement new technologies.
