Job Description: Collaborate with third-party vendors to evaluate innovative solutions, driving build-vs-buy decisions that enable Coinbase to iterate quickly and leverage industry innovation. Wear multiple hats of Customer Experience, CX Agent Experience and Technology leader to deliver secure, scalable and efficient compliance tools. Build and manage an engineering team and guide the development of essential product features and underlying infrastructure. Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, cross-org stakeholders and senior leadership to turn the vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter. Collaborate with Product and Engineering to break down complex projects into smaller pieces and iterate on their design and implementation. Be a thoughtful technical voice and support the team in making diligent architectural decisions. Work with talent organization to source and hire amazing engineers who will expand the culture and product. Contribute to owning and delivering processes that drive engineering quality and meet the engineering SLAs. Create an environment where innovative ideas are regularly generated, vetted, and transformed into action. Foresee potential issues before they arise and adapt their own approach, working within constraints to avoid adverse impact. Communicate across the company to technical and non-technical leaders with ease via weekly and monthly program updates. Quickly distill complex technical themes so that an entry level, non-tech team member can understand them. Telecommuting permitted.
Job Requirements: Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or in related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
Special Requirements: Position requires experience, knowledge or coursework in each of the following skills:
- At least 2 years of experience as an Engineering Manager;
- Designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production services;
- Collaborating cross-functionally with product, design, SRE (Site Reliability Engineering), Data Science teams to design and improve customer experience;
- Leading analysis of complex technical issues and technology choices, and communicating them to the team and stakeholders in both written and verbal form to drive consensus;
- Owning, overseeing, and delegating the design, architecture, development, testing, deployment, and delivery of large-scale software applications, systems, platforms, services or technologies;
- Creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale;
- Creating and maintaining foundational infrastructure libraries utilized by every engineering team in production;
- AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, CircleCI, BuildKite or similar technologies for Storage, Computations, Observability, Governance.
