Designing and building capabilities that enhance Credit Karma's platform infrastructure, 50% of the time; Identifying feature gaps in existing adopted technologies, flows, and processes; then providing solutions for those problems and charting a plan to realizing the solution. Hands-on leadership of said solutions that can include writing software code for implementing systems from the proof-of-concept level till completion. Relaying latest news of relevant technologies updates and helping Credit Karma update those systems where appropriate.
Collaborating with non-platform teams to complete shared goals, 25% of the time; Generating reports and/or building report-generating mechanism for various compliance audits and security audits governing software practices. Creating infrastructure components and/or building self-service systems for such components to help product engineering teams advance their projects. Participating in technical design reviews of various non-platform engineering teams to advise from a platform infrastructure perspective.
Completing on-call duties, 15% of the time; Responding to triggered alerts through New Relic and PagerDuty, then resolving problems with live platform systems; following up with action items to improve state once problems resolved. Completing ad hoc service desk tickets on Jira for non-platform teams that need platform-related assistance. Responding to urgent messages on Slack service desk related channels to unblock non-platform engineers or route them in the right direction.
Helping develop other team members, 10% of the time; Pair programming with engineers to guide and advise them on best practices on engineering tasks such as writing code and troubleshooting systems. Giving actionable technical feedback to less experienced engineers on how to polish their skills.
May telecommute within normal commuting distance of the Charlotte, NC office up to 2 days per week.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field, plus 4 years of work experience in the job offered, or a related occupation. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, employer will accept an additional 2 years of work experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Requires academic training or work experience in each of the following: Cloud Computing (GCP specialization); Programming in Python, Scala or Java; Infrastructure as Code with Terraform; Linux Operating System; and Kubernetes.
