Supervise the design and analysis of automobile systems in areas such as aerodynamics, alternate fuels, ergonomics, hybrid power, brakes, transmissions, steering, calibration, safety, or diagnostics. Apply technology within the auto repair industry to improve design and development processes. Review, approve or change designs after meeting with the engineering team and present the final version to clients. Evaluate and select designs for various automotive parts. Schedule timing and supervise tests for functionality of designs that are conducted by engineering and mechanical staff. Provide technical direction to staff. Coordinate technical activities of automotive engineers.
