Economist, Vice President, TPG Global, LLC, San Francisco, CA (40 hrs / wk)(Must Be Available Nights and Weekends). Responsible for overseeing associates and economic analyses and gathering data to forecast economic conditions; Collecting data to prepare economic presentations on trends and deal-specific analyses; Interpreting economic and financial data; Complex quantitative economic models to determine likelihood of potential outcomes, and quantitative and qualitative analyses; Overseeing associates and monitoring current investments, interacting with management of portfolio companies, and evaluation of strategic development, operational and financial alternatives, add-on acquisitions, planning and budgeting processes; microeconomic and macroeconomic analyses and research to develop projections and forecasts; financial economics research for various investment topics, themes, case studies and industries; research on complex economic issues; Researching and keeping abreast of economic and financial market developments; Researching and analyzing historical and current economic environments; Assessing macro-economic environment, political and regulatory issues, business climates, social developments, and corporate governance issues; Presenting economic research and analysis in reports, tables, and charts; Assisting senior members in making investment decisions; utilize technology applications including S&P, Capital IQ, Pitchbook, Microsoft Excel and PPT. Occasional travel to explore investment opportunities and manage existing investments approximately 5 times per year, and attend firm meetings approximately twice a year. Limited telecommuting option of 2 days per week.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Economics (Foreign educational equivalent acceptable). Must have completed Bachelor's level coursework in: Business Economics, Calculus II, Calculus III, Intermediate Microeconomics, Probability, Linear Algebra, Principles of Accounting, Corporate Finance, Math of Finance, Managerial Accounting, Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, Monetary Economics and Global Economy, Intro to Management, Statistical Inference, Financial Accounting I, Corporate Valuation, Capital Markets, Financial Accounting II, International Banking, Finance of Buyouts and Acquisitions, Advanced Study-SMGT, Risk Management, and Real Estate Investments. Plus 2 Years Experience as Analyst or Economist, during which must have advised technology companies on M&A and corporate finance transactions valued in excess of $500 million; including: 1) Analyzing economics of technology companies using valuation models including DCFs, credit models, LBO models, comps, and accretion math 2) Collecting and synthesizing data economic environment and conducting research on market landscape to position business; and 3) Providing work product to help complete transactions including M&A, initial public offerings, private placements, and debt financings. Proficient in S&P, Capital IQ, Pitchbook, Microsoft Excel and PPT.
