Provide lab testing services for inpatients/outpatients of Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, Laguna Honda Hospital, District Health Centers & other facilities under the auspices of the SF Public Health Department, among other duties. There are multiple openings for this role.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science or foreign equivalent degree in Medical Technology, Clinical/Medical Laboratory Science, or closely related field
- 3 years of experience as a clinical laboratory scientist/technologist or medical laboratory scientist/technologist
- Documented experience in Core laboratory (Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis)
- Documented previous experience performing instrument validations, writing technical procedures, & training employees
- Documented experience managing proficiency testing, handling & organizing proficiency samples & documents, & appropriately submitting test results
- Prior documented experience training employees in new software applications or information systems or actively participated in new software validation & implementation
- Evidence of having actively participated in regulatory inspections &/or accrediting agency audits
- Documented experience serving as a lead in the absence of a supervisor
- Demonstrable proficiency in using HIS & LIS platforms, Microsoft Word & Excel
- Possession of a CA Clinical Laboratory Scientist License, clinical laboratory scientist license or a similar license of equal or higher level issued by the CA DPH
- Completion of coursework in biology or biology-related subjects, mathematics, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and virology
Final salary & offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Placement within salary range is dependent on work experience & internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the CBA.
