Design, integrate/improve manufacturing systems/related processes for oil & gas directional drilling tools, focusing on drilling technologies: Measuring While Drilling Tools (MWD): Mud Pulse Telemetry (MPT), & Electromagnetic Telemetry (EMT), & Inter Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) Communications Tools: Micro-Hop (MH), & Short-Hop (SH).
Collaborate with design, mechanical, & electrical engineers using SOLIDWORKS to refine product designs for enhanced producibility & reduced costs, focusing on materials technology. Evaluate & select Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques such as ultrasonic, radiographic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, & eddy current testing.
Analyze NDT data & inspection results to identify defects & determine significance on product quality, performance, & safety using quality control technology. Investigate & resolve operational & product problems related to directional drilling tools, addressing material use variances, production bottlenecks, & challenges in designs, materials/processes through quality control & material technology.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- 1 year of work experience as an Oil & Gas Directional Drilling Support Engineer working with directional drilling tools, including MWD Tools & Inter BHA Communications Tools
- Diploma in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques or 1 year of work experience in oil and gas NDT testing
- AutoCAD/SOLIDWORKS certification
- Courses in Drilling Technologies, Quality Control Technology, & Materials Technology or 1 year of work experience in oil & gas drilling, quality control, and material technologies
- Approximately 10-15% domestic and international travel
